Evil and darkness approach His throne,
Fear comes with the sound of a dry and rattling bone!
This was once their home,
A dark place where I would cry and moan.
Their attacks keep coming,
They fill my thoughts with running.
I stare hopelessly at the ground,
Prepared to be once again tied and bound!
Then a light catches my eye,
I hear evil and darkness scream out with a cry!
A mighty warrior stands behind,
The Greatest of Kings you will ever find!
I turn and His throne I see!
I remember, I am free! I am free!
He speaks and my fears are overcome,
Evil and darkness try to run.
He stops them with His Word,
They are now trapped in a cage like a bird!
They accuse me of being an evil thing,
Damn him they scream! Damn him they sing!
Everything they say is true,
Hell I deserve too!
Jesus immediately stands,
Holding out His nail pierced hands!
"Look at the holes," He declares!
My righteousness I give, His life I spare.
Silence fills their cage,
They become filled with rage.
I fall to my knees, and begin to weep!
Glory, Joy, Honor, and Peace are mine to keep!
A glorious and eternal purpose I have found,
and all I needed was to just turn around!

Genesis 22:7-8 The Lord Will Provide
I wrote this after reading Genesis 22. It is truly amazing how Abraham trusted and believed God, and how God provided the sacrifice. God has provided Jesus for us! He provided the Lamb that Abraham told his son about!
Tested by the Great "I am,"
To the land of Moriah I must go.
There I will sacrifice a ram,
But little did I know.
I was told to kill my son,
the one whom I love much.
I trusted my God and did not run,
Confident in His Word's touch.
"Where is the Lamb?" I am asked.
The Lord will provide I say.
I raise the knife to finish my task,
Oh the pain in this day!
God stopped me and provided a ram,
Later Jesus came and was the perfect lamb!
Abraham said the Lord will provide,
Provide He did indeed!
My sin had caused me to pick a side,
A side where I would be judged for my deed.
I deserve death and pain,
Hell should be my destination.
I am far worse than Cain,
Slavery and guilt my indication.
But God stepped in and took my place,
And sacrificed His Son for my sake!
His risen Son now pleads my case,
Jesus says "All your sin I take!"
God provided like Abraham said,
JESUS IS ALIVE, HE IS NOT DEAD!
Tested by the Great "I am,"
To the land of Moriah I must go.
There I will sacrifice a ram,
But little did I know.
I was told to kill my son,
the one whom I love much.
I trusted my God and did not run,
Confident in His Word's touch.
"Where is the Lamb?" I am asked.

Thank you for hearing me when I pray
Jesus it is this day I ask that my heart be completely healed,
Finish tearing down this wall of stone that you have partially drilled.
Forgive me for not trusting you like I did before.
My worries, pains, and sorrows have left quite a sore.
Help me thirst to find your living fountain,
Let my journey and your guidance give me faith to move a mountain.
Help me treasure your word into my heart
and Center my thoughts on you like a dart.
Help me listen for my shepherds call,
And make him my all in all.
Give me passion like my Savior,
Give me absolutely radical behavior.
Sprit use me like a hand would use a glove,
Lead me where people have not heard of God’s love.
Renew my heart and mind this day,
Thank you for hearing me when I pray.
Finish tearing down this wall of stone that you have partially drilled.
Forgive me for not trusting you like I did before.
My worries, pains, and sorrows have left quite a sore.
Help me thirst to find your living fountain,
Let my journey and your guidance give me faith to move a mountain.

Wondering Mind
My mind starts to wonder as I dream
Finding memories of many things
These thoughts sometimes make it hard to sleep
They are memories I no longer wish to keep
I try my best to put them away
But it seems my flesh is begging them to stay
Only thoughts of lust plague my mind
Its like my flesh is just playing rewind
Things of the past I continue to see
It is like 100 stings of an annoying bee
God I am yours when awake and asleep
Make my dreams something that is worth to keep
Thank you for hearing my prayer of need
Please give me the faith the size of a mustard seed
Finding memories of many things
These thoughts sometimes make it hard to sleep
They are memories I no longer wish to keep
I try my best to put them away
But it seems my flesh is begging them to stay
Only thoughts of lust plague my mind

Why is this so very hard?
Why is this so very hard?

I wonder if what I am doing is staying within your chart.
God, I know you have something great in stored for us all.
I guess I am just still very blinded from my fall.
My first reaction is to try and help my self up,
but this never leads to getting a fill in my cup.
I have made this trip before,
and I have found only you can pick me up from this floor.
My Faith stumbles from time to time,
but you always have some way to remind.
My mind ponders over the future a lot,
especially now about tying the knot.
Although that time is far away,
I worry as if it is today!
I start to feel alone and scared,
and then you show me you are there.
Giving my heart to you is the best thing I can ever do.
But sharing my heart with someone else,
this seems very important too.
I know I am in love as we speak,
but is she the one that will help me climb this tall peak?
Or is this man’s journey meant to be with only you?
I guess right now I need a lot of patience, and hope too.
God, you showed me love, and what it is all about.
Then why is it now, I am having my doubts.
Time's End is Near!
Time's End is Near!
by Miles Farthing on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 5:54pm
Today I will shed no tears
For I realize Time's end is near!
His fate is similar to mine,
Since we are both running out of time.
Overjoyed, I hear Death knocking on our door.
Time is about to be no more.
Death is here to take me away,
but Time will not see another day.
My Joy rises, Death is here!
Time's end is very near!
Finally free from Time's embrace,
I will meet my Savior in a marvelous place!
This place is Death and Time free,
And it is Jesus, I will finally see!
Death and Time wait outside the door,
they are both destined for a fiery floor!
Filled with joy, everything is clear!
Oh how beautiful it is that Time's end is near!
For I realize Time's end is near!
His fate is similar to mine,
Since we are both running out of time.
Overjoyed, I hear Death knocking on our door.
Time is about to be no more.
Death is here to take me away,

City Project Update
Hey everyone,
I hope all of you are doing great! I just got back from New York City
last night, and I had an awesome time. I am now in week two of The
City Project, and just wanted to give all of you some updates about
what has been happening.
I am living in the city of Durham in an area called Walltown, which is
on the edge of Dukes campus. This past week was filled with getting to
know my team, and the city better. I found out that I will be
interning with the Pastor of the Summit’s North Raleigh Campus, and
will be working with Church World Services during the summer. I do not
really know what to expect with the internship, so please pray that
God guides me during the internship and that I am able to bring Him
glory doing it. Church World Services works with refugees that have
just arrived into the United States, and tries to help them get
settled into their new life in the United States. So really we are
there to help them learn how to get around in the city, get jobs,
speak English, etc.. Pray that God opens up opportunities to preach
the gospel of Jesus to them, and that I am able to love these people
like God loves us.
As I mentioned above I just got back from New York City! Wow, what an
amazing city! It is truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever
been! The beauty of the City truly lies with its people. It is so
diverse! It almost seems like God took the entire world and squeezed
it, and the drop of people that fell became New York City! Our teams
mission was to evangelize in heavily Muslim populated areas. Starting
conversations with complete strangers is extremely hard and scary for
me! So God totally stretched me this past week! While there, a
missionary in the City trained us on the importance of sharing our
faith and how we can make the Gospel clear for our audience! Truly
learned so much from this man, please pray for him (Brad Laws) as he
continues to work in the City. Our team shared the gospel with a so
many people! One team got to share the Gospel with the "Top" Muslim or
main priest of Islam in New York City. Pray for the people of New York
City, pray for those that we shared the Gospel this past week, pray
that God will call them to Himself and show them all the amazing truth
in our savior Jesus! My team personally had a really cool experience
that God put us in: The first day we went out to evangelize we had
know idea what we were doing! I was nervous, and even doubting if we
would get to talk to anyone. I began to pray as I walked down the
street for God to "Use us, open a door for us to declare your glory."
As I prayed I remembered a sheet that we were given to help us start
conversations. One task on the paper was to find Chai Tea (Very good
spicy/sweet tea from India) for under a dollar. So I told my team we
should ask someone where we could find Chai tea. We ended up asking
the next two men we ran into, and they told us to follow them that
they were on there way to eat lunch and drink tea now. We got there
and they invited us to eat lunch with them and there other friend. The
three men were Muslims from Bangladesh. We spent the next few hours
discussing the Islam, and we were to clearly present the Gospel to
them all. They ended up buying our lunch and buying us all three tea!
God is so good! When we were leaving we asked them if we could pray
for them, and they said they wanted us to pray for peace in the world
and that they would live honest lives.
The only way peace can come to the world is through Jesus! Honest
lives, the search for truth, also only found in our wonderful Savior
Jesus! Pray for these men that they do find peace and truth in Jesus!
The fun is just beginning, I am now back in Durham. So I am sure that
God will continue to take me out of my comfort zone during the summer.
But like Paul says in Philippians Chapter 4:12, How he has learned to
be content in all situations (Good, Bad, Scary, Hungry, Sad, Happy,
etc..), because he has Jesus. Jesus is everything to us! The Gospel is
that we deserve Hell because of our sin, but through Jesus we have
salvation. So pray that I be content with my amazing savior Jesus!
Pray that I am bold to declare the Gospel to strangers, and that I
love them as Christ loves us.
I pray for you all this week that you remember that the Gospel says we
deserve Hell, but through Jesus we have been saved. I pray that you
find much delight in this truth, and that joy spreads like wildfire in
all areas of your life! I pray that you all be bold to share the
Gospel!
Thank you for your prayers please let me know if I can pray for you
specifically.
Thanks,
Miles

John 3:30 “He must increase, but I must decrease”
Lonliness to abundant joy!
There are times when I feel alone and out of place,
Like a random man floating into the nothingness of dark space.
Many people pass me by,
But none seem to hear my heart’s silent cry.
My body feels my hearts deep pain,
but it can never seem to flee from this dark dark rain.
It pours and pours on my heart’s dreams,
Love will never come to me it seems.
Then true reality starts to set in,
Although it still rains, darkness shall not win.
And I am not a random man in space,
I have been put in very specific and special place.
A place where my hearts cry is always heard,
Finding completeness in my Creator’s Word!
Yes pain, rain, and darkness are still around,
But flee at my Savior’s sound!
A sound full of love and light,
So powerful there is actually no Fight!
He speaks, they fall!
My heart rejoices at His call!
His Love is all my heart needs,
I will follow and He will lead.
I am not lost, I am found.
And always guided by my Good Shepherd’s sound.
I am not worthless,
I have purpose!
Love my God with all of me,
And love all the people that I see!
The task is not too hard to complete,
The harvest is plentiful and is ready to be reaped.
Workers are few, yes indeed!
So we must work with diligent speed!
Rejoice all men and women of the earth,
Believe in Jesus and have new birth.
He has paid for all of our mistakes,
And is the Way to heal all our heart’s breaks.
Truth is not hidden anymore,
Jesus stands to help us get up from this dirty floor.
Yes we will continue to fall every once and a while,
But eventually will be taken to place where there is no slippery tile.
A city known because God is there,
A place of beauty and diversity with no despair.
So run the race Christian and do not be afraid to fall,
But be obedient to our Great God’s call!
A call of Love and Grace,
His glory we shall chase.
I pray for you my sister and my brother,
Remember to Love God, and love each other.
I started this poem as a lonely boy,
But because of Jesus I now see I am a man with abundant Joy!
Like a random man floating into the nothingness of dark space.
Many people pass me by,

Love Found Me
They say true love is hard to find,
A lovely fairy tale made up in the mind!
Now I have looked far and near,
But all of them have only lead to broken hearts and tears.
My soul screams that this is not right,
Finding this love is worth the fight!
My mind searches for the origins of love,
Then my spirit shouts to look at the King who reigns above!
I found it, I found it, my mind begins to think!
Then the weight of my sin suddenly makes me shrink.
I do not deserve the Love of the King,
But death is the song I must sing.
I am dead and alone in the darkest place,
Love is truly missing without a trace!
Then suddenly I see a radiant light,
The darkness flees without a fight!
My King has forgiven and paid my debt,
The Cost of Justice has been met.
True love I finally see!
And It found me, It found me!

Worriless Future
Oh, Future why do you plague my mind?
You know I have nothing else to find!
My race has already begun, and my course has been set.
The Prize, which is my Savior, is what I will get.
Why tempt me with thoughts of a bride?
Oh, the numerous times you've tried.
She is important, I agree.
But she is not a sidetrack to me.
She is part of the race, which I must run.
And Oh when I find her there will be much laughing and fun!
Her beauty and wisdom none will compare,
She will never be able lose my stare!
I will love her like my Savior loves me,
And her love for our family will be one sight you must see.
Together we will strive to love our King,
The song of obedience is what we will sing.
Oh yes future, I have patience and I will wait.
Because as you can see above, my God has ordained me a perfect mate!
You know I have nothing else to find!
My race has already begun, and my course has been set.
The Prize, which is my Savior, is what I will get.
Why tempt me with thoughts of a bride?
Oh, the numerous times you've tried.

Stone to Flesh
A heart of stone I have made,
Heavy and destined for earth’s grave.
My debt to God will be paid,
So I slowly enter the dark cave.
A fiery hell awaits my soul,
I have lost all of my hope.
I feel the heat of the fiery coals,
I have finally reached the end of Life’s rope.
A heart of stone is what I am,
I cry out for a helping hand.
Yahweh has provided a lamb,
His blood covering me and turning the stone into sand.
My heart is flesh, it is new!
God my heart belongs and is made for you!
